Magazines on Libby

Are you making resolutions at this time of year? Maybe there’s a new hobby that has sparked for you over the holidays, or you aim to spend less time doomscrolling in 2026. This is the perfect time to browse for inspiration through Libby’s thousands (yes, actually thousands!) of on-demand magazines.

What is Libby?

Libby is the free app that gives you access to eBooks and Audiobooks on any smartphone or tablet, through your library membership. If you have a valid library card, you can download the app and start enjoying a wide range of options from non-fiction to fiction, for kids and adults alike. Last year, checkouts on Libby counted for about 1/3 of all the items accessed through your Library – Brighton loves it’s digital books!

How Can I Access Magazines on Libby?

When you arrive on Libby’s starting screen, you’ll see “Catalog Filters” at the top. Below are options to search for “Books”, “Audiobooks”, “Magazines” and more. You can click on the “Magazines” button to browse through the thousands of options, right on your device. You’ll find Rolling Stone and National Geographic, Vogue and Cook’s Illustrated – all the big names! These are all on-demand, meaning no waiting for your turn – just click “Open Magazine” to start reading. If you select “Subscribe” then you’ll be notified when a new issue is available.

Libby’s display features for eBooks also extend to magazines. This means you can select the size of the text, the colour tones, and even the format – tap the “Article” button on any page that has an article you want to read, and Libby will convert it to a scrolling-friendly format. You can also highlight and bookmark pieces you want to remember for later.

A Challenge!

What hobby are you looking forward to in this new year? Is there a topic you want to stay on top of, or a trip you’re planning to take? See if Libby has a magazine for that – it’s already included in your library membership!
