  • 2 Weeks – For Movies, Documentaries
  • 3 Weeks – For Books, Magazines, AudioBooks

Lucky Day Books

Lucky Day books are high-demand titles that would normally have long waitlists. To give more people the chance to get their hands on a copy, our Lucky Day books can be borrowed them for 3 weeks, but they’re not available for holds. They also cannot be renewed – we know more people want a turn! Drop in to the library to see what’s on this special shelf, and find out if it’s your lucky day.

“We threw the book at library fines and we are proud of it! Library fines made up less than 1% of our operating budget and created a punitive barrier to service. They actually worked against the very essence of what a library represents. We have given you less to worry about and more to celebrate.” – The library’s CEO

Please return all library materials on time. Items can be returned at a Circulation Desk when the library is open or in the drop boxes which are located at the front door of the Main Branch, and at the front of the Codrington Branch. Any Brighton Public Library items can be returned to either branch.

If you’re returning items like board games or kits, please return them to staff at a Circulation Desk.

Replacement Costs

Patrons are responsible for the items they have signed out. A patron who loses or damages library material will be required to pay the cost of replacing the item(s). Any charges in excess of $5.00 will automatically result in the loss of borrowing privileges – including for digital items.

Any material that is overdue by 60 days or more will result in the replacement cost being charged to the patron’s account.
