You can now sign out Ozobots using your library card! These little robots are a great way to learn about critical thinking, communication, robotics and computer science skills. No matter your age, anyone with an interest in STEAM topics (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Math) will love making these bots do their bidding.
How Ozobots Work
Ozobots are a line-following robot: whatever line you draw, the Ozobot will follow. To get started, take a piece of paper and draw a thick line on it using the broadest part of a marker. Turn on the Ozobot by pushing the button, place the Ozobot on the line, and it will follow the line to the end. Just like that, you’re programming a robot!
But what makes Ozobots really fun is their colour codes. Ozobots use sensors to read lines and respond to the codes you’ve drawn, prompting them to race, dance, choose directions and more. Each Ozobot kit includes a guide with different colour codes, as well as markers that use Ozobot colours.
BPL is excited to add Ozobots to our collection. We look forward to everyone having access to borrow these kits and build coding, creativity, and critical thinking skills. These kits can be borrowed for 3 weeks using your library card. Find them in our online catalogue, or in person at our Main Branch.
