Film Screenings: Mary Two-Axe Earley: I Am Indian Again; Feather Fall

Join us for this special double-screening from the National Film Board, in honour of Indigenous History Month.
Mary Two-Axe Earley: I am Indian Again (33 min)
This film shares the powerful story of Mary Two-Axe Earley, who fought for more than two decades to challenge sex discrimination against First Nations women embedded in Canada’s Indian Act and became a key figure in Canada’s women’s rights movement.
Feather Fall (23 min)
Ten years after capturing a defining image of Indigenous resistance—Amanda Polchies kneeling in prayer with an eagle feather in hand before a line of RCMP in riot gear—Inuk filmmaker and journalist Ossie Michelin returns to Elsipogtog, New Brunswick. Feather Fall reconnects with the women and warriors who stood on the frontlines of a historic anti-fracking standoff, reflecting on its impact and the community’s enduring legacy of resistance. Told through an Indigenous lens, the film is a powerful meditation on sovereignty, healing and the strength of collective action.
